Smokers Smoker's Lung

Apart from the physiological effects of nicotine, smoking causes remarkable changes in body tissues. The healthy lung (left) exhibits some small deposits (black spots), probably from air pollution. The smoker's lung (right) shows dark deposits causing blockage of the small airways in the lung, resulting in decreased lung capacity.
